The Future of Work has been with us for a long time already, but it took a global pandemic to really force the issue of how to ensure remote work is both constructive and productive.
We believe that in essence, the distribution of teams can be structured along a continuum of different configurations defined by two main dimensions: physical (where people do the work), and temporal (when people do the work – across time zones, shifts or week-days). Every day, teams and organisations find themselves on a different section of this continuum. It would be costly and ineffective the way of working was shifting daily, depending on the specific configuration. The goal is therefore to define and adopt a single “One Way of Working” that will help an organisation collaborate effectively and productively, maintaining focus, engagement and positive energy.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution, and each organisation needs to find its “One Way of Working” that delivers value regardless of which hybrid configurations and asynchronous collaboration is in place.
There are tried and tested tools and techniques that can help creating a collaborative space where colleagues, team members and business leaders all can address interactions, tasks and workflows.
Back in June 2020, we – nest consulting – delivered a webinar on the topic and shared how some of these tools and techniques – borrowed from Lean Agile practices – can be used in our day to day work to help us collaborate effectively as a team and become a high performing one.
